sponsors?So I had this friend on Facebook start a group for his bicycling adventure, he wants to bike all over Europe and Africa and is looking for someone to sponsor him, he’s biking for a charity or something. Is there anyway I could get sponsored to do the trail? I think that would be totally awesome if I got sponosored by a toy company or porn company or sexual non profit of some sort? Is anyone familiar with how this works? Would having a sponsor from the sex industry be even related to hiking at all or is that too much of a stretch? I think I’ll have my finances squared away enough to do it, but just barely and it would be totally cool to actually hike for a cause other than my own need to get away. 7 comments to sponsors? |

Also, have you read Bill Bryson’s A Walk in the Woods? He didn’t really do the whole trail, but it’s a funny story:

you should document it somehow and write about it. Write chapters that weave in and out of sex work to serenity in the woods. not that sex work isn’t serene, but its like very intense psychological work and it would be neat to tell your memoir of just walking into the woods. i am actually talking to a press here in pittsburgh about doing some kind of sex worker anthology
but yeah how about taking donations too? i would.
There should be some kind of feminist porn site that would pay you to challenge assumptions about sex workers. But of course that’s what we’re all trying to make and not what is. What about Abby Winters? Would they sponsor you for a pictorial of your journey?
I think your erotic self portraiture is amazing. It has done a lot for me in my own development as an artist and a woman- I would love to see what you come up with in the woods. I would also be interested in reading your musings on life and nature and how it relates to your sexuality- and just genera writing that has nothing to do with sexuality if you want.
Anyway, I want to get a sex worker oriented press. That would be the shit.
It’s probably worth the effort to try to contact some companies that you have worked for and others to see if they would like some publicity by helping to sponser you. I think Vivid Video had a racing car( don’t the circuit it raced in) which it sponsered. So why not sponser an adult entertainer hiking the Appalachian trail. Presumably they could get you interviewed by local media as you pass from area to area. The sexworker oriented press would be good to also have a Jon Stewart style news cast on the rediculous laws and opinions of the industry. You probably wouldn’t need to make up much, if any, of the material for any skits.
